5 Aesthetically Pleasing Christmas 2023 Commercials That Illuminated Screens and Hearts Alike

Christmas is always a season of heightened consumer spending, which is exactly why brands seek to create memorable campaigns, forge stronger connections with their audience, and capitalize on the goodwill associated with the season. Aesthetics play a pivotal role in the success of these Christmas advertising campaigns. In the visually-driven world of marketing, the way a message is presented is as crucial as the message itself. Aesthetically pleasing ads not only capture attention but also evoke the emotions and sentiments associated with Christmas.

While last week we covered some of the most heartwarming Christmas commercials, we are back with some of the most beautiful Christmas 2023 adverts. So, without wasting another moment, let’s dive straight into 5 aesthetically stunning Christmas commercials that turned all heads.

1. M&S Food: M&S Christmas Food

Following the winning formula of last year’s festive Fairy exploration, the Fairy returned to M&S Food’s 2023 Christmas campaign, joined by two new sidekicks.

The ad revolves around the Fairy, who is determined to cheer up the mittens after they are separated from their child owner Lilly, and lost in the snow springs.  After being introduced to the magic of an M&S Christmas by the Fairy, the mittens are seen zooming and dancing around the living room, dining room, and kitchen, where they discover the very best of M&S Food this festive season. The mittens ultimately have their most delicious Christmas ever.

2. Aldi: Share The Love

If M&S Food stuck with its success formula of the Fairy from last year, Kevin the Carrot made its appearance for the eighth consecutive year in Aldi’s Christmas 2023 commercial.

The ad, which is inspired by the 2005 movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, shows five lucky winners excitedly waiting to enter William Conker’s Magical Christmas Factory. Kevin encounters all sorts of mischievous characters on his tour through the factory where he is accompanied by Grate Grandpa. Similar to the movie, Kevin is joined by 'Plumty-Dumptys', a 'Spoilt Little Sprout', 'Greedy, Gluttonous Grape', and a 'Naughty Green Kiwi'. The commercial ends with Kevin winning the final prize and asking if he could share his good fortune with others, which perfectly aligns with the Christmas spirit.

3. Tesco: Be More ‘Christmas’

Tesco’s 2023 Christmas advert focused on the build-up to Christmas rather than just the big day, reiterating its emphasis on quality and value throughout the year.

The ad revolves around a teenager who’s only getting into the Christmas spirit after everyone else. The advert further shows his family gradually transforming into living festive objects like Christmas trees and a snowman as they get into the festive spirit. The more festive they get the more elaborate their costume becomes. All this while, the teenage protagonist is seen rolling his eyes in annoyance until a sentimental moment changes his mind.

Watch the advert to know how the young lad finally got a little ‘Christmassy’!

4. Boots: Thank You, Santa

While we have all looked forward to being visited by Santa at some point in our lives, this advert by Boots reversed the role of the giver and the recipient with regard to gifting.

The ad, set against a soundtrack by Val Doonican, revolves around the story of a mother and daughter on a mission. When the daughter asks her mother who gives Santa gifts, the two embark on a journey to the North Pole, rewarding the people who help them along the way with gifts from Boots.

Well, the art of giving isn’t restricted to only normal people, it seems!

5. Air New Zealand: The Great Christmas Chase

Air New Zealand’s Christmas 2023 commercial shows the extreme lengths an Air New Zealander will go to save Christmas for an unsuspecting passenger.

The 90-second spot shows a flight attendant noticing that a young passenger has left a Christmas present on the plane. She then embarks on an action-filled race against time to return the lost gift through a busy airport filled with travelers and obstacles. The 90-second TV spot is so action-packed it has to come with a disclaimer: “Please don’t rush at the airport … All stunts are performed by professionals.”

Wrapping Up

And that was a wrap of some of the most aesthetically pleasing Christmas 2023 commercials. The visual appeal of an advertisement has the power to convey the brand's personality, communicate the joy of giving, and create a lasting impression on the audience. The adverts covered in this blog bear ample testimony to that.

We’ll be back with more amazing commercials. Till then, stay tuned!
