It won’t be an overstatement if we say that Nike has consistently dished out some of the best marketing commercials, including this one.
This 2001 ad was a part of a series of Nike commercials with upbeat music mixed with the sounds of streetballers and players like Vince Carter, Jason Williams, Baron Davis, Lamar Odom, George Gervin, and Darius Miles presenting amazing basketball handling tricks.
The concept turned out to be one of the greatest in the advertisement world, which made many youngsters try to replicate the moves. This commercial, in fact, propelled basketball into pop culture.
2. Powerade: Very Real Power
Before his conviction for his association with a dog fighting ring, Michael Vick was one of the greatest dual-threat quarterbacks to have walked on the face of the earth. He was a marketer’s dream and Powerade fully capitalized on his stardom with this commercial that cost them about $60 million.
The commercial shows Vick throwing that ball at receivers training with such strength that it uplifts them off their feet. He is also shown throwing the ball almost 180-yards into the stands. Well, you can’t deny it was clever editing just like Vick’s power was undeniable.
3. Gatorade: Be Like Mike
The Quaker Oats Company owned the Gatorade brand until PepsiCo brought out the parent company in 2001. Immediately after Michael Jordan and the Bulls won the 1992 NBA Finals, Gatorade launched one of the greatest taglines in ad history with the “Be Like Mike” ad campaign.
The commercial shows some of Jordan's greatest career highlights. Also, the kids are shown trying to emulate him. But can you really ever do that? Sorry kids, you’ve got to try harder than that!

Not long after his “Be Like Mike” commercial with Gatorade, Jordan was at it again. However, this time it came in collaboration with the fast food giant McDonald's.
In a showdown between Jordan and Larry Bird, the pair decide to play a game of H.O.R.S.E with the first to miss watching the other person eat Jordan’s Big Mac. it was hilarious to see them throwing balls from miles away and even putting certain conditions for throwing the ball in the basket.
5. Nike: Winner Stays On
Nike came up with one of the most iconic and memorable commercials. The commercial was once again a result of the effective marketing idea of young kids trying to imitate their heroes.
