1. M&S Food: The Journey

Like all its Christmas campaigns since 2021, M&S Food again roped in Dawn French for its Christmas 2024 commercial - except that she also makes her on-screen debut this time apart from lending her voice to the Fairy character, as has been the norm for the last three years.

The ad shows Dawn feeling overwhelmed by everything that she had to do before having guests over for Christmas. As she sits at her home bemoaning the long day ahead, the fairy, who’s been the trademark character in all of M&S Food’s recent Christmas campaigns, emerges and offers to lend her a hand. Dawn’s first reaction- a loud shriek followed by some funny posturing. However, the fairy lays out the table with a tasty selection of M&S’ festive food with a wave of her hand, which also transforms Dawn into a glam evening look.

Watch out for Dawn’s trademark funny facial expressions and sarcastic comments as she dances around with her “privacy-invading” guests, lending the ad a real fun flavor!

2. Waitrose & Partners: A Waitrose Mystery

British supermarket chain Waitrose & Partners has dished out a funny two-part special with a ‘whodunit’ storyline for its Christmas 2024 ad campaign.

The ad, featuring an impressive British cast, revolves around a family waiting for a festive Christmas feast when Waitrose's show-stopping No.1 Red Velvet Bauble Dessert goes missing. With Matthew Macfadyen wanting answers, every dinner guest becomes a suspect, including the family cat.

What follows is a rather hilarious barrage of questions that Macfadyen throws at each of the people present in the house. Will they manage to find the pudding or will the thief gobble it all up without letting anyone else get even a whiff? Watch the second part of the commercial to find out!

3. Boots UK: Make Magic

British health and beauty retailer Boots has launched a Christmas ad campaign that’s been causing both laughter and furore. But I bet that if you have got even an ounce of humor in you, you will find it funny too.

The ad opens with Father Christmas in a deep slumber and gives the audience a peek into behind-the-scenes at Father Christmas’ bedazzled ‘werkroom’, where we meet Mrs. Claus, who is revealed to be the wo'man'-in-charge of her husband’s Christmas extravaganza. When Santa wakes up from his slumber, he hurriedly hops into his sleigh with Mrs Claus having already made all the arrangements with the help of an array of LGBTQIElves and drag queens.

Just as Santa is about to embark upon his journey to distribute gifts to children, Mrs Claus turns towards the camera with a smirk and asks the viewers, “You thought it was all him?”, leaving everyone in splits!

4. Telstra: Together is for Christmas

Telecom company Telstra released a funny 90-second Christmas spot, which highlights the importance of being with one’s family on Christmas, but with a funny take.

The ad shows an old man playing Burl Ives’ “A Holly Jolly Christmas” on repeat as he is busy with the Christmas decorations when his donkey swallows the phone and runs off. The donkey soon becomes a star, owing to his rather melodious ‘tones’. But one day when the donkey hears someone whistling the same melody, it is reminded of the old man. The donkey goes back to the old fella with a Telstra gift, leaving everyone immersed in an “awwwww’ moment.

Well, now try replacing the donkey with a human and avoid the part where it swallows the phone, and this advert could have very well made it to any blog on the most heartwarming Christmas 2024 commercials too!

5. Verizon: It's the Most Wonderful Time

The last commercial in this blog is a 30-second spot by another telecom company, Verizon, and boy, it’s funny.

The ad captures various moments where people lose their phones to unexpected accidents as they get ready to embrace the festive spirit. But don’t worry, Verizon has got you covered with its amazing Christmas offers so that old and broken phones don’t get in the way of your enjoyment.
