The Year of the Horse kicked in more than two weeks ago, and our zero coverage of the CNY campaigns this year is bound to cause some indignation among our lovely audiences. So, it’s totally understandable if you’re mad at us for being so late with our CNY blog. Honestly, at this point, I’m not sure how sincere my apologies for the continually delayed content will seem to our loyal readers.

But at ClickInsights, we place a greater weight on content quality and pay less attention to its timing. Nevertheless, we hope that this #FunnyFridays blog would help soothe your nerves and bring out a chuckle or two (believe it or not, your laughter means a lot to us🥺)

So, although a bit late, here we are with 5 funny CNY 2026 commercials, which will leave you in splits– much like that relative who shows up late to the reunion dinner but still manages to steal the show😛

1. Grab: Wait...Whose CNY Ad Is This?

An emotional monologue, an unexpected CNY reunion against all odds, and a product hero shot at the end! For years, brands have relied on this tried-and-tested CNY campaign formula. But Grab flipped this formula on its head with a CNY advert that left everyone asking, “Wait...Whose CNY Ad Is This?”

The ad showcases a production crew setting up for a shoot, with one crew member trying to figure out the brand that they are filming for. What follows is utter confusion, with people giving all sorts of answers to the curious and confused crew member. From Vinda tissue and Jasmine rice cooker to Kyochon fried chicken and Subway, everyone seems to have different ideas about who the shooting is for.

Thankfully, watching the ad on Grab’s YouTube channel left no doubt in my mind that it was a Grab ad with the brand underscoring its festive tagline, “HUATEVER you want, Grab got”.

2. Spritzer: Unstoppable Love

A love story for the ages- that’s precisely the premise of Spritzer’s CNY 2026 ad campaign with Spritzer water playing the biggest wingman in the history of mankind in the hero’s pursuit of his love.

The ad follows a young woman with two potential suitors for marriage. The first suitor is the clumsiest fellow one could think of, with an unlimited supply of Spritzer Water bottles, which he flashes out every 30 seconds. The second suitor is a rich and smart guy with the sweatiest underarms on the planet. The woman is obviously more fond of the second guy (because who wants to be with a guy whose underarms release more water than the Niagara Falls🤧).

But who would the woman finally choose? Watch the ad for some hearty laughter and to find out the answer!

3. Mister Potato: Jack Chan

Chips brand Mister Potato’s CNY 2026 campaign is a spoof of Jackie Chan’s teacup scene from the 1978 Drunken Master scene, and it is funny to the core.

The ad shows a guy trying to balance bowls of chips on his head and shoulders while another guy tries to divert his attention. But as focused as the guy tries to be, the aroma and the crunchiness of Mister Potato chips make him lose his balance, with the guy falling straight over a massive chilli that’s been poking at his bottom all along.

As the ad ends, the camera reveals that the chilli is no longer where it was, and the guy limps away with a painful expression on his face, leaving the audience giggling at his plight.

4. Singaporean Government: Best of Luck

Singaporean Government’s CNY campaign this year is both funny and a lesson on how easy life becomes with some teamwork.

The ad opens with a family CNY reunion dinner where everyone is busy with their phones as they click pictures of the food and vlog the ongoing festivities. Irked by their over-indulgence in their phones, the family matriarch loses her cool. Just as she yells at them to keep their phones away, the kitchen sink pipe bursts, leaving everybody panicked and worried.

But instead of waiting for the plumber to come and fix it, the family decides to do it themselves. With what appears to be a stopgap arrangement, the family finally fixes the broken pipe.

Most importantly, they keep their phones away not only while fixing the pipe but also during dinner and other festivities.

5. Watsons: Happy Beautiful Year

Watsons’ OG family was back this Chinese New Year, and they were joined by their cousins for the reunion dinner, causing an absolute lighter riot.

The ad showcases the children of the Watsons family and their cousins trying to one-up each other in the funniest ways possible. From putting on padded muscle vests to flex their muscles to gloating over their “all-natural beauty”, the cousins, along with their better halves, have a go at each other with their antics, leaving the viewers in stitches.

However, despite their many differences, there’s one thing that’s common among them, i.e., their massive orders of Watsons products! I mean, why would they all order from Watsons at the same time, that too in such high quantity? Well, regardless of the answer, the Watsons CNY 2026 commercial, through its rib-tickling humor, leaves every viewer grinning from ear to ear.

Wrapping Up

And that’s a wrap of our #FunnyFridays edition for this week, bringing us to the end of our slightly-belated-but-still-worth-it CNY roundup. While most Chinese New Year ads tug at the heartstrings with emotional reunions and sentimental storytelling, these CNY 2026 commercials chose to tickle the funny bone instead– and they did so with remarkable flair.

And if these commercials managed to bring a smile to your face– or better yet, a burst of side-splitting laughter– then we’d say our late arrival to the CNY party wasn’t such a bad thing after all😅

We’ll be back with more wonderful ad campaigns for you, hopefully in a more timely fashion from now on🫣 Till then, stay tuned!
