Hey fellas, long time, right? But such is life, you see! It can get so busy at times that you might find it difficult to spare some moments even for the things you probably love the most. But with brands advertising such funny Father’s Day commercials this year, I felt that a #FunnyFridays segment was in order, especially dedicated to Indian dads. Why? Well, you are about to find out.
So, let’s take a look at these 5 funny Indian Father’s Day commercials that will make you laugh harder than your dad’s corny jokes.
1. Axis Bank: The Thumbs-Up Emoji
If you have ever been to any South Asian country, you might have some idea about what a typical South Asian dad is like- serious, stoic, and visibly impossible to please. But is that really the case? This funny Axis Bank advert breaks that stereotype beautifully.
The ad shows a young girl telling her dad about her various life achievements on WhatsApp like landing her first job, doing her first presentation at the office, and getting a promotion. But her father sends nothing more than a thumbs-up emoji in response, driving the audience to feel that he is not too impressed with her achievements. But the daughter, like every other South Asian kid, knows the emotions that lie behind those thumbs-up emojis. We later see the dad marveling at her daughter’s achievements in front of his wife.
Not funny, right? Well, wait until you see him sending the heart emoji when his daughter tells him that she has created a fixed deposit in his name at her bank🤣
2. Zomato: Father’s Day Treat
If the previous advert wasn’t enough, this Zomato ad will surely tell you what Indian dads are all about.
This 1-minute short shows a man giving a pretty casual response when his son tells him about his victory at the zonal chess tournament. But as is always the case, he happily goes about telling everyone else about his son’s accomplishment. So, it wasn’t surprising at all to see him calling someone later to tell them that his son had ordered his favorite pineapple cake😆
3. Manforce: Coolest Dad
Imagine your parents getting a whiff about your sex life… jeeeeezzz, right???? Well, the young lad in this advert by condom-manufacturing company Manforce got into the same weird and awkward situation but thankfully his father saved the day.
The 45-second advert shows a woman storming into the room with a condom packet in her hand and enquiring about it from her son. When the woman asks him what it is, the poor lad blurts out that it’s a condom, further enraging the woman who asks her husband to intervene. But all that the husband has to say to his son is that it’s not a condom, it’s Manforce. I guess it’s okay with Indian dads as long as you use Manforce condoms😂
4. Zlade: Daddy’s Day Out
They say don’t teach your dad how to f**k and rightly so! This 75-second spot by grooming products manufacturing brand Zlade will tell you why.
The ad shows a young guy telling his dad, who is about to go out on a date after 15 years, how the dating landscape has changed drastically since he was on a date last time. The boy tells him that, unlike the old days, men tend to focus more on self-grooming these days and gives him a trimmer with a full-body-shave gesture.
We later see the father going to his room where we see that the rascal already has a trimmer. That’s why they say, don’t teach your dad how to…..!!
5. Bombay Shaving Company: Sorry Dad
And here’s my favorite Father’s Day ad, which is both funny and sad at the same time! Sad because we keep forgetting to wish our dads on Father’s Day year after year. And funny because they never get mad at us for taking them for granted all around the year🙈
The 1-minute spot by Indian personal care brand Bombay Shaving shows a guy telling us how the brand had tried for years to get everyone to celebrate Father’s Day with the same vigor that’s visible on other important days. From encouraging people to gift their dads something special on Father’s Day to going as far as reminding everyone about the day itself, the brand did it all. But thanks to the sheer indifference of the current generation, the brand has finally given up. And all that it has to say to dads this Father’s Day is sorry!
I know one should feel rather sad about this but I burst out laughing on seeing the father’s reaction to the apology😭😂 It’s almost like the dad gave up just like the brand🙈
Wrapping Up
And that was a wrap of yet another #FunnyFridays segment. I think dads are pretty much the same everywhere, which makes them even more awesome. In case you’re planning to launch your Father’s Day ad campaign next year and wish to keep things on the lighter side, these funny Indian Father’s Day commercials will come in handy.
We’ll be back with more amazing content for you. Till then, stay tuned!
