Diwali has always been a festival of lights, laughter, and lively storytelling– and Southeast Asian brands truly embraced that spirit in 2025. Some of this year’s Diwali ads didn’t just deliver punchlines; they burst forth like comic crackers, blending cultural charm with clever humor. From unexpected twists to festive mischief, Southeast Asian Diwali 2025 commercials made the celebrations even brighter.

So, in today’s #FunnyFridays segment (or let’s just call it #SideSplittingSaturdays at this point), let’s revisit the five that had everyone laughing through the festivities.

1. Astro Malaysia: Ithu Namma Kondattam

Astro Malaysia’s Diwali campaign revolved around a much-relatable household mishap– a sudden power outage, followed by some incredible teamwork, with a tinge of good, old humor to back it all up.

The advert follows a family preparing for the festival when there’s an unexpected power cut. But instead of panicking, the entire family rallies together under the aegis of the family matriarch– the hardest taskmaster you could possibly imagine! What follows next are plenty of relatable and funny moments, leaving the viewers smiling at the chaos and humor.

2. Mah Sing Group: Appa... Why Her?

Every household has its share of stories, with the walls of our houses having heard it all– the chaos, the laughter, and the love! Mah Sing Group’s Diwali 2025 commercial showcases one of these moments when a house turns into a home.

The ad opens with a mother gearing up to scold her son for waking late on Diwali and treating the house like a hotel (haven’t we all heard that from our mothers at some point?). Soon enough, as it usually happens, her rage cannon turns towards her husband, who has been out grocery shopping for hours.

But the real fun begins when a beautiful neighbor arrives to deliver Diwali murukku, triggering varying and hilarious reactions from the mother and her son.

3. Watsons: Oli-Ways With Me

Watsons Malaysia’s 2025 Diwali ad campaign adopts a comedic approach to the homecoming theme and follows the humorous mayhem that ensues after a girl tells her family that she won’t be able to make it home on Diwali.

The ad opens with the family’s Diwali plans being thrown into chaos when their daughter, Reena, informs them (in the most dramatic way possible) that she won’t be able to attend the Diwali festivities with them, sending the entire family into the shock of a lifetime. However, the family’s despair soon gives way to hope when their grandma advises them to take the celebration to Reena instead.

Watch the ad to see how the family springs into action as the brand blends humor and festive charm in this hilarious spot.

4. Julie's Biscuits: The Duel

Family dynamics can be tricky, especially during large family gatherings with probing questions from relatives that can spark tensions. Julie’s Biscuits’ Diwali campaign this year sought to reframe these moments of bitter-sweet banter amongst relatives with this witty spot.

The ad revolves around two main characters– an outspoken aunt and a young woman, who engage in a mental game of what to say, and what not to say at a Diwali gathering. Their verbal sparring, framed as a cowboy-style duel, echoes the cinematic standoff of a cowboy showdown being played on the TV in the background and revolves around the stereotypical tension-inducing topics such as appearances, marriage, and lifestyle choices.

But just when tensions between the two are about to hit the roof, there’s a new entrant in the clash– the grandmother. And boy, does she make both these women uncomfortable with her pointed questions🤣

5. TNB: The Perfect Family

TNB’s Diwali 2025 commercial is somewhat similar to that of Astro Malaysia’s campaign mentioned above, with just one exception– instead of the grandma, a little girl takes the centrestage in this funny advert.

The ad follows the girl as she sits disappointed and overlooked in a household of perfectionists with every family member priding themselves on their flawless execution of their Diwali chores. However, chaos soon ensues when everybody starts screwing up at the same time, making way for the girl to step in and lead.

6. Maybank: Light of Laughter

Although Maybank’s Diwali campaign can’t exactly be termed funny, it certainly does make the viewers break into laughter, which is why it features on ClickInsights’ #FunnyFridays segment.

The ad, featuring Tamil funk musician and comedian Murty, an amputee with a prosthetic leg, takes a fresh and light-hearted approach to Diwali as Murty hosts a festive open house celebrating music, comedy, and community. The ad not only leaves you chuckling but also showcases how shared moments of laughter can uplift one’s spirits even when they are confronted with life’s biggest hardships.

Wrapping Up

And that’s a wrap of some of the most hilarious Southeast Asian Diwali 2025 commercials. These comic-cracker commercials added a playful spark to the season, reminding viewers that humor is as essential to the festivities as diyas and fireworks. With creativity shining brighter each year, one can only imagine the hilarious surprises Diwali 2026 will bring.

We’ll be back with more wonderful ad campaigns for you. Till then, stay tuned!
