5 Wonderful Father’s Day Ads That Will Make You Want to Call Your Dad Right Away

As promised last week, we are back with more amazing Father’s Day ad campaigns for you. With Father’s Day approaching, it will only be days before brands flood the internet with their ad campaigns for this year. Therefore, it would be a good idea to take a look at some of the most successful Father’s Day ad campaigns from the past for inspiration.

So, here we are with 5 awesome Father’s Day commercials that you must watch.

1. Dove Men+Care: Not Just About Dads (2017)

Dove Men+Care has always been at the forefront of producing mind-boggling Father’s Day commercials and 2017 was no different. The brand released an advert that highlighted that we don’t have to be biologically related to someone for them to be a father figure in our life.

The 30-second spot celebrates grandfathers, uncles, teachers, and coaches, who often don the role of fathers at different stages in our lives. The ad highlighted the modern family dynamics that not all father figures are always actual fathers; it’s the sentiment that really matters, not your biological linkages.

2. NFL + Marriott: Smiles (2016)

This ad is somewhat similar to Stella Artois’ Father’s Day commercial from 2018. But while that commercial included adults and their fathers, this one includes young children who talk about what they love about their fathers and what they think their dads do all day. So, this one is obviously more cute.

Moreover, the dads featured in this video are NFL players. So, the ad captures the universal elements of fatherhood. Also, it beautifully portrays the bond that these children share with their dads. The funniest part was when one of the kids said that her dad works at his office when asked where her father works😂

3. Nike: A Father’s Day Tribute (2016)

Nike came up with a heartwarming Father’s Day ad in 2016 for people who have been distant from their fathers for a long time.

The 2-minute ad begins with a young man’s audio message to his father, which takes viewers on an emotional rollercoaster. The message reveals how the young lad is trying to do something with the pennies that he had collected with his father in childhood. Also, we come to know that he has found his father’s old Nike shoes, which fit him perfectly now. The ad concludes with a message from the boy to his father, which conveys that he loves him and misses him a lot.

The ad serves as a reminder to everyone who tends to avoid saying the simplest yet the most important thing to their parents, which is how much they mean to their kids. You’re still here? Pick up the phone and call your parents, now!

4. Michelob ULTRA: Dear ULTRADAD (2018)

Beer brand Michelob ULTRA released a wonderful Father’s Day ad in 2018, which celebrated father figures in all forms- mentors, coaches, and stepdads.

The ad shows different father figures being pleasantly surprised at having received a thank you note from people who they have impacted greatly. The advert highlights how important these bonds are for the kids who see these people as father figures in their lives. This tear-jerking ad depicts the significance of communication and highlights how even a simple letter can turn out to be a great gift for your father.

5. Google Chrome: Dear Sophie (2011)

And here’s my favorite of the lot! We often tend to think that children are much closer to their mothers than fathers, which is also true to a certain degree. However, a child is just as big a gift for the father as it is for the mother. And this commercial highlights this perfectly well.

The ad begins with a dad setting up a Gmail address in his newborn daughter’s name i.e. dear Sophee.lee. He then emails several of her important life moments to her address, including a photo of her birth, a video of her skiing, and little notes on being a parent. We find out toward the end that he’s been sending her these emails for years, however, she has no idea that they exist.

Imagine Sophie’s reaction when she sees all these emails from her dad! Honestly, I’d be mad at my dad for not showing me those emails for so many years; how could he keep this beautiful gift waiting for so long?

Wrapping Up

And that was a wrap of some of the best Father’s Day commercials from recent years. While children don’t need an event like Father’s Day or Mother’s Day to express their love toward their parents, such occasions are surely waited for in anticipation by brands. Hopefully, the ads discussed above will help marketing teams figure out what it takes to come up with a killer Father’s Day ad campaign.

We’ll be back with more awesome commercials for you. Till then, stay tuned!
