1. Alibaba Updates Open-Source Qwen3 Models For AI Deployment On Apple Devices



Alibaba Group Holding has released its updated Qwen3 family of artificial intelligence (AI) models that could signal the potential roll-out in China of machine-learning technology on a range of Apple devices, including iPhones, iPads and MacBooks.

In a post on social media platform X, the Qwen team of Alibaba’s cloud computing unit said it launched open-source Qwen3 models optimised for Apple’s MLX framework for machine learning. The MLX framework is intended to be user-friendly, but still efficient in training and deploying AI models on Apple’s silicon hardware. It has seen growing adoption among developers within the Apple ecosystem.


2. Trump Extends TikTok Deadline for Third Time by 90 Days



President Donald Trump has extended the deadline for TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, to sell the short-form video app to an American owner by another 90 days.


Trump signed an executive order granting a third extension for the Chinese company to sell its platform so it can continue to operate in the United States. The initial action occurred via an executive order on 20 January, on his first day in office, following a brief suspension of the platform when the ban, sanctioned by Congress and confirmed by the US Supreme Court, came into effect. In early April, Trump issued an order to extend TikTok's operation for an additional 75 days, following the breakdown of a potential agreement to sell the app to American owners.


3. KFC to Launch Genshin Impact Collaboration in China



American fast-food chain KFC is gearing up to launch its latest collaboration with the popular video game Genshin Impact.

Titled K’s Man, the team-up features popular characters Alhaitham and Kaveh, two male figures from the Sumeru region with a complex relationship that is highly shipped by fans. The co-branding event is framed as a “premiere” for a mystery action film co-created between KFC and Genshin Impact. A 30-second teaser is also planned for release on 27 June, presumably the official launch date of the collaboration. For the event, KFC has prepared pin badges, acrylic stands and exclusive packaging for food.


4. Jimmy Choo Names Bai Lu As Asia-Pacific Brand Ambassador



Jimmy Choo announced actress Bai Lu as its new brand ambassador for the Asia-Pacific region.

Bai is best known for her lead roles in popular dramas such as The Legends, One and Only, and Untouchable Lovers. She has also gained wide recognition through her appearances on the reality show Keep Running. With her vibrant presence and clear talent, she reflects the confidence and energy of a new generation of Chinese actresses.


5. Temu Resumes Direct Sales to US After Washington-Beijing Trade Truce



Budget shopping site Temu, owned by Chinese online retailer PDD Holdings, is resuming direct shipments from China to the US, after Washington and Beijing agreed on a framework for a trade deal.

Some items that had been removed from Temu’s US marketplace last month after it shifted to a “local fulfilment model” have been made available for sale in recent days. A Chinese seller surnamed Liu, who sells women’s clothing from Dongguan, Guangdong province, said two of his dresses were made available for sale in the US on Wednesday, but dozens of his other products were still offline.
