Hi folks, we are back with our weekly edition of China’s Digital Digest, wherein we bring you weekly updates on China’s digital space. The report takes a quick glance at China’s complex and rapidly evolving social media landscape by providing updates on the latest happenings across the social media industry. Here are the major highlights of the report.

1. Alibaba’s Taobao Sees 60% User Surge in Thailand After Local Launch

Taobao, China’s largest online shopping app owned by Alibaba Group Holding, is seeing rapid user growth in Thailand, as the platform expands its international presence in search of new growth opportunities.

ree

Just over a month after the launch of a localised version of Taobao, the number of new Thai users on the platform surged 60 percent year on year, recent data from Alibaba International Digital Commerce Group (AIDC), the company’s overseas e-commerce division, showed. The Thai version of Taobao adds to its existing Chinese and English versions, reflecting the company’s strategy to attract more users in the Southeast Asian country.

2. JD.Com Eyes Us$2.6 Billion Takeover of German Electronics Retailer

Chinese e-commerce firm JD.com is in advanced talks to acquire Ceconomy in a deal that could value the German electronics retailer at about €2.2 billion (US$2.6 billion).

ree

JD.com is considering an offer of €4.60 in cash for each Ceconomy share, according to Ceconomy’s statement. No binding agreements had been signed so far and it was not certain a takeover offer would be made, the statement said. JD.com had been in discussions with the major shareholders of Ceconomy and any formal offer would hinge on their support, people familiar with the matter have said.

3. Temu Accused by EU of Breaking Rules With Illegal Product Sales

The European Union ramped up an investigation into Chinese-owned e-commerce firm Temu, saying that the company fails to gauge how many illegal products are sold through its platform.

ree

The EU’s executive branch, the European Commission, preliminarily found Temu in breach of the bloc’s online content rule book, it said in a statement. It added that a risk assessment of illegal sales Temu conducted in October was inaccurate and that the commission’s own analysis and test purchases showed users in the EU are at high risk of receiving unsafe or counterfeit products such as baby toys or electronics.

4. Starbucks Now Offers Study Rooms in China

Starbucks China has recently launched its new “星子自习室” (Star Study Room) service at select locations in Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

ree

These dedicated workspaces offer free Wi-Fi, power outlets, and water—with no purchase, time limit, or reservation required. The move quickly sparked buzz on social media: the hashtag #星巴克推出自习室 (Starbucks Study Room) has already topped 38 million views on Weibo.

When you are trying to level Divination with OSRS Accounts the player will need to travel around Gielinor collecting wisps from specific locations. This will provide you with memories and energy, which can be put into energy rifts in order to gain Divination-related experience.

There is a possibility that you'll get more enriched memories that will give you double the amount of XP you deposit them. If you are harvesting wisps it is best to wait until you've exhausted your inventory before you "cash the" memories to earn XP by selecting"enhanced experience" or "enhanced user…
