Analytics jargon can get confusing sometimes. So what do hits and sessions mean?
Jeff Rajeck, Senior Trainer at ClickAcademy Asia, helps you make sense of hits and sessions on Google Analytics.
Highlights:
Why do we care about hits? Hits are the building block to the most important data in Google Analytics - the session. A session is defined as a group of interactions one user takes within a given time frame on your website. A single session can contain multiple page views, events, social interactions, and ecommerce transactions.
Ultimately, we want to know if people did what you wanted them to do - did they buy something or give you their contact information? If they did, that session had a conversion. If not, then it did not have a conversion.
So with sessions, we can see how many visitors converted from different channels like social media, search engines or mobile devices.
