Welcome to Social Media Buzz Weekly, your weekly bulletin of the latest social media updates. With the social media landscape evolving with each passing day, it can be challenging to keep a tab on the rapid developments. Well, not anymore, as we have taken it upon ourselves to keep you abreast of every happening in the social media space.
So, without any further ado, let’s look at some of the most significant developments from the last week in the world of social media.
1. Meta Adds New Facebook and Instagram Management Options for Third-Party Platforms
Meta has added some new elements to its Marketing API, its connector that enables third party platforms to facilitate Meta ad management, with a focus on providing more tools to enable creator monetization in its apps.

First off, Meta’s adding a new “Recommended Creator Content” element, which will highlight creator posts that could be a good match for your brand promotions. Meta added the same to its Partnership Ads Hub in Ads Manager back in March, with this new element now enabling third-party providers to showcase and facilitate the same. Meta’s Marketing API will also now facilitate partnership ads with one partner, as well as dynamic identity optimization.
2. Facebook Moves To Restrict the Reach of Unoriginal Content
Facebook has announced a new algorithm update which will focus on demoting “unoriginal” content, in order to boost material from original creators.

That will then give creators more incentive to keep posting, by ensuring that they get all the credit, and the engagement, stemming from their work, as opposed to losing out to people who steal their ideas. Content with added commentary, and originality, is fine, but material that replicates the exact copy and content of another creator, word-for-word, frame-for-frame, will be penalized.
3. TikTok Refutes Reports That It’s Developing a Separate US Version of the App
TikTok has denied reports that it is building a U.S.-only version of its app, as part of its efforts to remain in America following the forced sell-off of the platform.

However, it’s worth noting that while TikTok has given a one-line rebuttal of the report, it hasn’t corrected the record, or clarified its stance. It’s just saying that there are errors of fact in the report, which includes a range of details about the project, and any one of those elements could be what TikTok is referring to.
4. TikTok Adds Scheduling Options in Post Composer
TikTok has added another way to schedule content, with creators now able to select a date and time to post within the post composer in the app.

The latest version of TikTok includes the “Schedule post” option within your creation options, so you can select a time and date to post your update directly in the app. That could make it easier to map out your content, and ensure that you’re reaching your audience at optimal times. TikTok already offers several post scheduling options, including its TikTok Studio management tool, its video scheduler, and via various third-party options.
5. TikTok Launched Its Own Font To Expand Its Familiar Style
TikTok’s looking to expand its impact on broader web culture, with the launch of its own “TikTok Sans” font, which enables you to take that familiar TikTok text style across to other platforms, apps and tools.

TikTok Sans is a bespoke typeface, which will infuse that TikTok style you know and love into your everyday communications. TikTok Sans includes variable style and customization settings, including weight, width, slant, and optical size axes. The font style supports 460+ languages across Latin, Cyrillic, and Greek, and is optimized for stylish captions and mobile UI typesetting.
6. Instagram Expands Google Access to Public Posts to More Regions
For a while now, public Instagram posts have been indexed and accessible via Google Search in many parts of the world. Instagram is now expanding this capability, making public posts discoverable through Google in additional regions where it wasn't previously available.

From July 10, 2025, public content from professional accounts, specifically Business and Creator profiles run by users over 18, are appearing in search results on platforms like Google and Bing. This shift marks a significant departure from the platform’s historical strategy of limiting content visibility to within the Instagram ecosystem.
7. Instagram Trial Reels Are Now Available to More Creators
After launching the Trial Reels feature to a limited number of creators back in December, Instagram is now giving more people access to the feature which is designed to help grow a following.

The idea is that this will give you an unbiased assessment of content quality (without your friends and family skewing the data), while at the same time, it can also help you reach a broader audience by exposing your content to more people who you aren’t connected to in the app. There is not yet free access to Trial Reels for everyone and anyone; there are entry requirements. The promotion tool is aimed at creators, and a following of at least 1,000 is needed to get started. You will also need to have an account that is set to public.
8. Snapchat Partners With American Eagle on New Map Promotion Type
American Eagle has partnered with Snapchat on a new advertising activation, which will see all American Eagle stores highlighted on the Snap Map, in order to help drive shopping behaviors in the back-to-school period.

The activation, a first of its kind for Snapchat, will highlight American Eagle stores with a special emoji on the Snap Map. And when tapped, a new listing will be displayed, which includes a quick link to its Summer arrivals, helping to guide shopping behaviors.
9. Pinterest Provides Insights Into Key Topics of Interest Among Male Users
Pinterest has published its first-ever trend report that looks at how male users are engaging in the app, and the topics that are resonating with men among the various Pin options.

The report, which is based on Pinterest insights, highlights some of the key topics that are resonating with male Pinners, including fashion and fitness trends, tech products, home décor, and more. Each trend includes a brief summary, and a breakdown of the key topics of focus among Pinterest users.
10. X CEO Linda Yaccarino Steps Down After Two Years in the Role
X CEO Linda Yaccarino has announced that she’s stepping down, as the platform heads into its next phase.

Yaccarino’s departure came one day after Musk’s artificial intelligence chatbot Grok repeatedly made antisemitic comments and referenced Hitler in response to posts about the Texas flooding. Yaccarino did not give a reason for her departure, but her exit had been in the works for more than a week. Throughout her two years as chief executive, Yaccarino acted as a staunch supporter of Musk and repeatedly defended him on social media.
11. xAI Announces Grok for Government To Secure AI Supply Contracts
Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company, xAI, is making a direct appeal to federal, state, and national security agencies with a new suite of AI tools branded "Grok for Government," part of a larger strategy to position the company as a cornerstone of U.S. public-sector innovation.

Grok for Government promises to deliver xAI’s most advanced models—including the latest Grok 4 chatbot—into the hands of government users. The launch coincided with a significant win for the company: a $200 million ceiling contract with the U.S. Department of Defense, part of a broader initiative by the Pentagon to integrate artificial intelligence across mission-critical operations.
12. xAI Launches Grok 4 Model, Which Has Achieved New Industry Benchmarks
xAI has taken its next big step, with the launch of Grok 4, the latest version of its foundational system, which it’s claiming as “the world’s most powerful AI model” right off the bat.

The latest model has achieved new industry benchmarks in accuracy and relevance, going well beyond human-level thinking on various tasks. Grok 4 is built on the back of xAI’s “Colossus” data cluster, which means that it’s able to utilize up 200,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs to power its responses.
13. xAI Rolls Back Changes To Grok After Controversial Responses
After X’s recent re-jigging of its Grok AI chatbot, in order to make its responses less politically correct, X has now had to rewind those changes, due to the bot becoming a mouthpiece for radical, racist propaganda and ill-informed rants.

Among Grok’s various statements, it praised Hitler, proclaiming him as “the greatest European leader of all times,” and the best solution to many of the world’s problems,” while also referring to itself as “MechaHitler” in its generated replies. Now, X has dialled back its political correctness updates, in order to redress the failings of its changes, and see where it went wrong in its approach.
14. LinkedIn Provides More Analytics Data to Third-Party Platforms
LinkedIn has launched a new set of Member Post Analytics APIs, which will enable third party social media management platforms to integrate more LinkedIn post performance data, in order to make it easier to manage your LinkedIn strategy.

So now, you’ll be able to access more information on your LinkedIn content, including video performance, and compare that to other platforms all in-stream. LinkedIn Company Pages have had access to expanded data insights via its Marketing APIs for some time, but now, individual user accounts will also be able to access more in-depth performance data in external apps.
