1. Meta, X and Snapchat Offer Discounts on Paid Subscription Packages for Summer
Meta, X and Snapchat are all making a push on their premium add-on plans for the Summer, with each offering special discounts for sign-ups over the next month.

Meta is offering a significant discount for initial sign-ups, with the first month available super cheap, before rising back to its normal levels. Meta is looking to entice a few more Verified sign-ups through a big discount on the initial few weeks (note: dollars here are in AUD). X Premium, meanwhile, is offering 30% off its annual subscriptions for its Premium and Premium Plus plans. While Snapchat is also offering a 50% discount off the price of the first two months of Snapchat+ as well.
2. DoubleVerify Expands Brand Suitability Measurement Across Meta Ads
Third-party ad data verification provider DoubleVerify is expanding its post-bid brand suitability measurement and controls for ads placed in Facebook and Instagram Feeds and Reels.

DoubleVerify’s brand suitability tools help to assess the suitability of content around your ads, so that brands can avoid unwanted association with potentially offensive, or non-aligned posts. Now, these are being expanded to more elements of Meta’s offerings, providing additional insight and control over your Facebook and IG ads.
3. Meta Reports Increases in Users and Revenue in Q2
Meta has published its latest performance report, with the company once again seeing increases in both usage and revenue in Q2 2025.

4. TikTok Expands ‘Out of Phone’ Offering to More High Exposure Surfaces
TikTok has announced an expansion of its “Out of Phone” off-platform advertising program, which aims to extend TikTok content to more screens, including billboards, in-store displays, cinema promos, etc.

The latest expansion of the program will see TikTok content coming to shopping malls, taxis and water refilling stations. TikTok initially launched its Out of Home initiative back in 2023, with its initial focus being billboards, cinemas and restaurants. It expanded the initiative last year with the incorporation of UGC into Out of Home campaigns, and it’s now looking to reach more screens and surfaces to further boost the exposure.
5. TikTok Publishes Report on Top UK Product Trends
TikTok has published its first-ever shopping trends report for the UK market, providing insights into the most popular products and consumer behaviors driving in-app commerce this year.

The 33-page “Big Shop Report” details a wide range of trending items across key categories including fashion, beauty, tech, food, and home, reflecting TikTok’s growing influence as a shopping destination. The report comes amid TikTok Shop’s rapid expansion in the UK, where it emerged as the fastest-growing online retailer in 2024, according to the platform.
6. TikTok Launches a Stripped Down Version of the App in Europe
TikTok has launched an alternative version of app in Europe which seemingly aims to to put more focus on the positive, beneficial aspects of the TikTok experience via the incorporation of a new initiative that makes it easier to support charity organizations in the app.

TikTok’s new app is called “TikTok Pro,” and is now available for download in Germany, Portugal and Spain, with more regions to follow. TikTok says that the alternate version of the app will allow people to experience and engage with joyful and entertaining content. TikTok says that the content in TikTok Pro is exactly the same as the videos that are displayed in the main app.
7. TikTok Announces Expanded Launch of Its Version of Community Notes
TikTok has announced an expanded launch of its own version of Community Notes, called “Footnotes,” which will enable TikTok users to add contextual information to posts in the app.

TikTok’s Footnotes are the same as X’s Community Notes feature, providing additional context on posts to help explain potentially misleading or incorrect information in relevant clips. Footnotes draws on the collective knowledge of the TikTok community by allowing people to add relevant information to content on the platform.
8. TikTok Adds More Safety Tools for Parents, Teens and Creators
TikTok has announced a raft of new safety and social care tools, which are designed to help ensure that users aren’t engaging in harmful behaviors in the app, while also giving creators more options to manage and maintain their presence.

TikTok is adding some new elements to its Family Pairing feature which will give parents more visibility about their teen’s account. In order to help parents better manage their experience time in the app, TikTok’s adding a new alert that will let parents know when their teen uploads a video, story, or photo that’s visible to others on TikTok. TikTok is also giving parents more visibility into their teens’ privacy settings. TikTok is adding a new option that’ll enable parents to block specific accounts.
9. Instagram Restricts Live Streaming to Creators With 1K or More Followers
Instagram has updated its live streaming policy, introducing a minimum follower requirement for access. Users will now need a public account with at least 1,000 followers to use the feature.

The move is likely to impact smaller creators who rely on live sessions to engage with their audience, as the platform tightens access to one of its key real-time interaction tools, according to several reports. Earlier, Instagram allowed all users to go live, regardless of follower count or account type.
10. Instagram Outlines Updated Performance Metrics, Including Audience Growth Indicators
Instagram has confirmed that it’s rolling out some updated metrics within the “Insights” tab, in order to give you more guidance as to what content is resonating with your audience.

Instagram is giving Reels creators more specific insight as to when a user has liked their clip within the video playback. That’ll help you better understand which parts of your Reel resonated with your audience, which could help to guide your creation process. Instagram has also officially announced its new carousel post insights, which will show you which image within a carousel a user was looking at when they tapped Like.
11. Snapchat Launches TV Show Aligned With AR Partnership
Snapchat has announced a new collaboration with Channel 5 in the U.K., which will see Snapchat’s AR tech embedded into a new program which looks at the development of some of the ancient wonders of the world.

The collaboration will see Snapchat’s AR experiences presented to viewers via a QR code, which, when scanned, will enable them to enter an AR activation, via the Snap camera, to glean more context about the wonder in discussion. As explained by Snapchat, the series follows Bettany Hughes OBE across three continents to investigate the Seven Wonders, traveling to ancient locations across Greece, Egypt, and Turkey to meticulously re-examine the 2,200-year-old “bucket list.”
12. Elon Musk Confirms The Return of Vine-Like Feature
X isn’t bringing back Vine, the app. But instead, in Elon Musk’s view at least, the new Grok Imagine functionality is “AI Vine,” and will provide similar functionality and engagement as Vine did in the past.

Vine was a popular app where users shared six-second looping videos. Although all genres and kinds of video were welcome, it was a home for comedic, creative video content, long before TikTok became a household name.
13. LinkedIn Adds Connection-Based Leaderboards for In-App Games
LinkedIn is adding a new competitive element to its in-app gaming feature, with group leaderboards set to show how you rank on each game in comparison to your LinkedIn connections.

LinkedIn is currently alerting games players about the coming leaderboard display, coming next month, which will add another, more personally relevant perspective to its gaming experience. The new leaderboard will show daily rankings based for each game that you and your connections (who’ve opted in) have played, so you can compete on performance, and discuss gaming strategies.
