In our previous blog, we explored how Filipino users are putting Gemini to work across writing, customer support and career development. Thailand presents a rather different picture. Here, Gemini is becoming less of a workplace tool and more of an everyday lifestyle companion, helping users with everything from casual conversations and shopping recommendations to creative projects and learning.

Gemini’s Southeast Asia Report 2026 shows that Thai users are embracing Gemini across generations and in their preferred language, while using it for both practical and personal needs. Here are the major highlights of the report.

1. 87% of Prompts in Thailand Are in Thai

Language is central to how Thai users interact with Gemini. 87% of prompts in Thailand are made in Thai, making it the second-highest share of local-language prompts in Southeast Asia, behind Vietnam.

Thai users do switch to English more frequently for professional tasks, coding and creative activities, but Thai remains their preferred language across prompt types. This suggests that Gemini's role in Thailand is closely tied to making AI feel accessible and natural within everyday communication.

2. One in Three Prompts Is About Casual Engagement

Thailand stands out for the extent to which people use Gemini simply as part of their everyday lives. One in three prompts in Thailand is related to casual engagement, the highest proportion in Southeast Asia.

These interactions can range from asking for house-decor recommendations and healthy lunch recipes to finding out more about temples in the neighbourhood. The report describes Thai users as the most likely in Southeast Asia to seek casual engagement with Gemini, highlighting how the platform is becoming an everyday companion rather than a tool reserved for specific tasks.

3. Creative AI Is Also a Major Part of the Thai Gemini Experience

Thailand's lifestyle-oriented AI usage extends into creativity. One in four prompts belongs to creative user journeys, making creativity the second-largest user journey in the country after casual engagement.

Image generation and writing are particularly popular. Creative usage is also especially pronounced among women in Thailand, who use Gemini for creative journeys 50% more frequently than male Thai users. The finding shows that Thai users are not simply turning to Gemini for information or answers. They are also using it as a tool for expression and experimentation.

4. Young and Older Thais Are Using Gemini in Different Ways

Gemini's appeal in Thailand spans generations, but different age groups interact with the technology in different ways. Users under 25 make more requests per user than any other age group and have the longest conversations with Gemini.

At the other end of the spectrum, users aged 54 and above account for 10% of Thailand's Gemini user base. They are also the country's most multimodal users, relying on voice and image prompts more frequently than younger Thai users. This suggests that Gemini is not confined to a particular demographic in Thailand. Younger users may engage with it more intensively, while older users are finding value in more intuitive ways of interacting with AI.

5. Gemini Is Becoming an Everyday Assistant for Learning and Life

The report's user stories illustrate just how naturally Gemini is fitting into Thai users' routines. A third-year engineering student in Bangkok uses Gemini as a multimodal study buddy, asking it to explain complicated research papers, work through mathematical problems and help her study while travelling on public transport.

Meanwhile, a retired teacher in Chiang Rai uses Gemini as a wellbeing companion, taking photos of food at a local market and asking Gemini about its nutritional content. He also uses voice interaction because typing on a small screen is difficult for him.

Together, these examples capture the breadth of Gemini's role in Thailand—from education and problem-solving to everyday personal decisions.

Bottom Line

Thailand's Gemini story is ultimately about AI becoming part of everyday life. While the Philippines shows how Gemini is being integrated into professional and customer-centric workflows, Thailand demonstrates another side of adoption: AI as a companion for conversations, creativity, learning, shopping and everyday decisions.

The country's strong preference for Thai-language interaction, unusually high level of casual engagement and broad adoption across age groups suggest that Gemini is moving beyond being a specialised digital tool. For many Thai users, it is becoming something they can simply turn to whenever they need information, inspiration, assistance or even conversation.
