1. Tiger Beer: Year of the Tiger

Singaporean beer brand Tiger brought onboard global football icon and leading South Korean player Son Heung-Min as its brand ambassador.



The ad showcases the beer brand’s mission to help people uncage the tiger within them. The commercial taps onto Son’s interesting journey from a South Korean professional footballer to becoming a global icon of the game, while highlighting the overarching message of ‘The Year of Your Tiger’ campaign theme.


2. Singtel: The Hunt for the Lucky Tiger

The Singapore-based telecom company, Singtel, came up with an excellent 2022 CNY ad that carried on the theme of family and community bonding from its last two editions.


The film showcases two families that are always fighting amongst themselves. On a vacation to Sentosa island, they participate in the treasure hunt, where they are asked to find the lucky tiger. However, the Angs have one of their children missing. In these testing times, the Huangs come to their assistance.



Both families come together to find the young boy. They put aside their differences in times of need. The Angs who end up winning the contest, embrace the Huangs as their own, thereby, highlighting the spirit of the new year.


3. DBS Bank: Spread the Huat

Singaporean bank DBS came up with a fun commercial last CNY to keep its audience engaged.



Traditional or not-so-traditional, low-key or lucky. long-distance or no-distance- no matter what kind of Chinese New Year, the DBS digital gifts will help you keep your traditions alive! The commercial followed up on its 2021 CNY ad and promoted its mobile payment and mobile wallet service called DBS PayLah. With ads like these, DBS is surely spreading the Huat!


4. Shopee: New Year Sale

Singapore-based e-commerce platform Shopee came up with a musical CNY advert last year and believe me when I say the music is “catchy”.



Massive discounts, attractive offers, significant cashback, and valuable gift vouchers- the Shopee CNY 2022 sale had everything that any shopper could ask for. And all of this was promoted in the most musical way you could imagine.


5. Ministry of Communications and Information (MCI), Singapore: The Visitor List

Singapore’s Ministry of Communications and Information (MCI) collaborated with Grey Singapore to launch a light-hearted film for the Chinese New Year 2022. The film shows Singaporeans slowly adapting to the uncertainties and challenges caused by the pandemic.



As there were limits on visitations, many families had to get past “social landmines” while prioritizing their guests. By giving viewers a glimpse into the perspective of families planning their visitor lists, the ad highlights the resilience of families and how they adapted themselves to these extraordinary times as a unit.
