Hey folks, it’s a Friday, and we are back with another segment of #FunnyFridays. Over the last several weeks, we have covered funny commercials from different countries like Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and India. This week, it’s time for Filipino commercials to take the centre stage.
Filipinos always love drama but it’s their unique sense of humor that has gotten them through their toughest days. For instance, take these 5 funny Filipino commercials. While their initial airing may span over several years, the one thing that has remained the same is that they are always funny. So, let’s move over to some of the funniest Filipino commercials that we have seen over the last few years.
1. Manulife Philippines
It’s one thing to create a funny commercial and a completely different ballgame to have a professional standup comedian pulling off your ad. The advertising team of Manulife Philippines thought that the latter was a better idea and damn, they were right!
The commercial shows a comedian telling his audience how supportive his father had been toward his career choices. The best part about the commercial is that there are plenty of comic punches throughout the ad to keep the viewers engaged throughout the 160-second spot. 2. Fita
What do you do when you’re late to meet your partner? Apologies work. Do you want to know what works even more? An open display of guilt and self-loathing!
This commercial by Fita shows a guy enjoying Fita with cheese bread, which is why he is late to meet his girlfriend. Realizing that the girl would be angry or upset, he starts berating himself for the mistake, which makes us split into laughter at his childish efforts to save himself from his girl’s wrath. Nice try, dude!
3. Biolink VCO Shampoo
They say that the world in the coming days is going to be truly unisex. Well, it looks like Biolink VCO realized this mantra at least 15 years ago.
The commercial shows women flaunting their black, shiny, and silky hair after using the Biolink VCO anti-dandruff shampoo. But just when you’re about to skip the ad, the last person in the row turns, leaving everyone surprised and in laughter.
By the way, the guy looks much more appealing than the girls in this commercial!
4. Loperamide Diatabs
What do you do if you’re stuck in an elevator with an upset stomach? You fart, obviously! But what if there are other occupants too?
This funny commercial by Diatabs showcases one of the most embarrassing situations to be stuck in if you have an upset stomach. The reason why it’s so funny is how relatable it seems. I mean all of us have suffered from loose motions at some point in our lives. And everyone farts- Lady Gaga farts and so did the late Queen Elizabeth. The trick is not getting caught while you’re at it!
5. Boysen Paint
This commercial from Boysen Paints shows a loving couple who find their day interrupted when the lead character’s significant other comes at the worst possible time.
When the significant other goes looking for who her man had been with previously, a timely paint spill results in the most unexpected escape for them. Not only does the ad demonstrate Boysen Permacoat’s hiding ability, but it also showcases its power of erasing one’s rivals, well done, Boysen.
Also, the roles of the girls in the ad are played by transgenders, which is obviously a progressive step. Dear Boysen, well done, yet again!
