I know it’s been a while since we celebrated Father’s Day. But between covering the biggest FIFA World Cup 2026 ad campaigns and keeping up with the whirlwind of marketing news, fathers ended up taking a back seat… yet again. (Sorry, dads! 🥺) Better late than never, though. After all, heartfelt stories never come with an expiration date.

So, if you’re still in the mood for a good cry (or just want to appreciate the incredible dads who shape our lives), here are 5 heart-wrenching Father’s Day 2026 commercials that tug at the heartstrings and remind us why fatherhood deserves to be celebrated every day.

1. Budweiser: The Ultimate Father’s Day Surprise

90% of the time that you will ever spend with your father happens before you turn 19. Feels sad, right? Unfortunately, that’s the reality of life. Some of our best moments with our dads happen even before we realize what they mean to us.

Thankfully, Budweiser Canada helped a bunch of people connect with their first bud– their dads. The campaign features people reminiscing about the time they spent with their fathers watching baseball games in childhood and admitting that it had been ages since they had played with them. But Budweiser had a lovely surprise waiting for them as they got a chance to play catch with their dads once again.

After all, no matter how much time passes, some moments are always worth catching up on.

2. Prega News: A Father’s Role

While mothers share the bulk of the load during pregnancy, they do need their partners to be around them during the early days of childbirth. Unfortunately, a father’s role during this period is not given much importance, which is why most organizations don’t have provisions for paternity leaves. This ad by Prega News, which has delivered several thought-provoking Mother’s Day ad campaigns in the past, highlights this issue and leaves the audience pondering over the significance of paternity leaves.

The ad opens with an employer admonishing one of his male employees for his mistake, which could jeopardize a business deal. However, upon learning from HR that his employee has recently become a father, he realizes his folly and understands why he hasn’t been at his best lately. He rectifies his mistake by sending him on a paternity leave for a few days, allowing him to be with his wife.

The ad urges us to rethink how we support fathers who show up from day one, not just as providers, but as equal partners in parenthood who deserve the time, space, and support to truly be there.

3. HDFC: Fathers in Focus

While fathers are always at the forefront when it comes to providing for their children and families, they are mostly on the sidelines when it comes to celebrating those very moments of joy, which they have worked so hard for all their lives. This heartfelt HDFC spot is a moving tribute to fathers whose love is rarely captured in photographs, but is present in every cherished memory they help create.

The advert shows a couple of siblings recreating their childhood pictures with their mother as their father clicks new pictures of the trio. However, when they try recreating a picture with the father, they’re left gutted to see that the family album had no pictures of them with their father that they could recreate. Their father was always the one clicking their pictures.

That’s what fathers do– they quietly step behind the camera so their loved ones can be in the frame. They sacrifice the spotlight, not because they have to, but because seeing their family smile is reward enough.

4. IndiaFirst Life Insurance: An Evening With Dad

Now, this one really moved me to tears and made me realize how little many of us know about our fathers and their lives.

The 85-second hard-hitting spot featuring Bollywood actor Avinash Tiwari shows him standing in front of a mirror, wearing a devastated look. With welled-up eyes, we hear him asking himself several questions related to his dad’s life– from his favorite singer to whether he preferred mountains over the sea. Each of these questions is met with abject silence, and Avinash runs a trimming machine through his hair every time. By the time he’s done asking himself questions about his dad, he’s trimmed all of his hair.

As he confronts himself over not spending enough time with his father while he was alive, we realize that there might be a day that many of us would be asking ourselves the same set of questions, with silence being the most common answer to these questions.

If that thought scares the living daylights out of you, it’s your sign to pull up a chair close to your old man and lend him an ear. Believe me, you won’t regret it!

5. Petronas: Resipi Ayah

As much love as fathers have for us, they might not be the most ideal or perfect people. And that’s okay; what truly matters is the purity with which they love their children, as this ad shows us. Although this one isn’t a Father’s Day campaign and was released during Gawai this year, it has all the ingredients to help it qualify as a Father’s Day campaign.

The ad opens with a man receiving a video recipe from his father as a gift on the traditional harvest festival of Gawai. The video begins with the father congratulating his son for his wedding and then proceeding to share the recipe for manuk pansuh, which he loved as a child. Towards the end of the video, the father apologizes to him for not being a good husband to his mother, which naturally caused great suffering to him, straining his relationship with his dad.

However, moved by his father’s sincere approach to reconcile with his family, the son makes a trip to his father’s place along with his wife. Some relationships never die; they simply evolve!

6. Emart: Grandpa’s Tapu

Here’s a bonus advert for you, guys. And it’s also a Gawai commercial. The ad follows a man and his young daughter visiting the man’s ageing father, who’s suffering from dementia and no longer remembers his son or his granddaughter.

​

However, when they hand him his cap for the traditional dance, he slowly begins to remember his son, who tearfully recalls the time spent with his father during his childhood.  As they say, memories fade, but love stays!
