5 Impactful World Environment Day 2025 Commercials That Showed Small Steps Lead to Big Change

I know we should have covered these ads in one of our previous blogs on World Environment Day commercials. However, I was somewhat surprised to see how few good ads we had this year that addressed critical issues like environmental sustainability and climate change. So, I finally decided to make do with whatever we had at our disposal and I must say that while there was an obvious dearth of quantity, the quality of these ads didn’t disappoint us at all.

So, without wasting another minute– we’re already late by almost two weeks🤫– let’s take a look at these 5 impactful World Environment Day 2025 commercials that gave nature a voice.

1. Mahindra Group: Not Just A Tree

Nature has been here even before the existence of homo sapiens or any other creature. This advertisement by the Indian multinational conglomerate Mahindra conveys a deeper message about how nature, with all its elements, has been around for much longer than any of us, yet faces an existential threat due to our activities that tend to harm it.

The advert personifies nature as it narrates its journey through the ages. As the title states, it’s not just a tree but the entire nature.

2. Hyundai: Dry Wash

I have always been fond of short and crisp adverts. And this Hyundai ad says a lot in minimal words.

The ad promotes dry wash for cars and other vehicles. Why? Well, it costs less water, less electricity, and is environmentally friendly overall. Could the incentives get any better? I don’t think so!

3. United Nations: Beat Plastic Pollution

For years, the United Nations has been trying to eliminate the threat of plastic pollution and it has launched some wonderful ad campaigns over the years underscoring its efforts to that end.

This year, it launched a 60-second spot featuring people from across the world. The ad shows them reiterating the UN’s aim and calling for collective action to tackle plastic pollution. By drawing inspiration from nature and showcasing real-world solutions, the campaign encourages individuals, organizations, industries, and governments to adopt sustainable practices that drive systemic change.

So, are you doing your bit to curb plastic pollution?

4. Maggi: 2 Minute Desh Ke Naam

While plastic remains a threat to the environment, littering streets with plastic packets after consuming its contents further amplifies the issue in many parts of the world where people are not too aware of the toll that plastic takes on the environment.

To that end, Nestle-owned noodles brand Maggi has launched a powerful 54-second ad that takes a rather witty approach to address the issue. The ad cites different examples of sneakers, laptops, and sunglasses to drive home its point that plastic bags and packets belong to the dustbin, not to the streets. Only time will reveal how effective the ad was but it surely packs a punch!

5. Zomato: Plastic Neutral Deliveries

As stated in the introductory paragraph, I didn’t come across too many World Environment Day commercials this year. And I was somewhat disappointed to see that a brand like Zomato, which launched a funny yet effective advert last year, didn’t come up with a campaign this year.

However, to its credit, the brand launched an Earth Day commercial just weeks before World Environment Day this year. And it’s a good one, underscoring the brand’s commitment to going plastic-neutral. The advert showcases how the brand has recycled 45,000 tonnes of plastic waste over the last three years and the far-reaching impact of its sustainability efforts.

So, the next time you feel guilty after seeing your Zomato order arrive in plastic packaging, just know that it will be taken care of in the most sustainable way.

And that’s a wrap of some of the best World Environment Day 2025 commercials. Honestly, I don’t think we are anywhere close to either reducing our carbon emissions or eliminating plastic waste. However, it’s surely heartening to see brands at least talking about these issues and taking steps to counter them. This should give us all some much-needed hope!
