5 Touching Malaysian Deepavali 2023 Commercials That Will Melt Your Heart

I know it’s been over 3 weeks since Deepavali but there was no way I could skip this. Do you remember the Mr DIY commercial that we covered in this blog on some of the best Deepavali 2023 commercials? Well, that one took quite a fair amount of research, and that’s when I stumbled upon some amazing Deepavali adverts from Malaysia. So, I thought a separate blog on the best Malaysian Deepavali ads was in order.

Hence, here we are with some of the best Malaysian Deepavali 2023 commercials that will inspire all marketers.

1. RHB Group: Shining A Light

What is the meaning of Deepavali and why do people celebrate it? How many days is it celebrated and what are the most common practices associated with it? Those are some of the questions that this 2-minute RHB advert tries to answer.

The ad features a few children trying to answer some of the most basic questions about Deepavali. And the answers will tell you why this radiant and profound celebration holds a special place in the hearts of millions across the globe. Also, the innocent answers of these kids might make you chuckle too😄

2. Petronas: Sikat Nasihat

Sometimes, all it takes is one man to bring joy to an entire town. This 6-minute Petronas ad proves that beyond doubt.

The ad shows a barber named Manosh serving his customers who arrive with unruly, tangled hair and leave feeling much better with renewed hopes, especially after getting Manosh’s renowned “The Superstar” style haircut. His haircuts are more than just styles; they are cherished moments in the hearts of every patron.

But while Manosh finds contentment in his clients’ satisfaction, his daughter Meena is perplexed about the business and his career.  What is it that makes Manosh radiate joy while snipping his clients' hair?  Watch the ad to find out!

3. CelcomDigi: Spreading The Light

Have you ever heard of the Butterfly Effect? Well, this beautiful advert by the Malaysian telecom brand CelcomDigi does offer a hint of that.

The ad showcases three curious children who find out that there’s more to Deepavali than just the festivities we see and celebrate each year. Instead, it is about being compassionate toward everyone as a small good-hearted act has the power to spread kindness all around.

As put forth aptly by one of the kids, every day is Deepavali!

4. Maxis: Would You Take The First Step To Reconnect?

While the celebratory methods might vary, I believe that the core purpose of every festival is to bring people and hearts together, especially if they have grown apart over the years.

This over 3-minute advert by telecom brand Maxis features people telling us how they are no longer in touch with people that they were close to at some point in their lives. Upon being encouraged to reconnect with their loved ones, they finally call them. What follows is an initial exchange of pleasantries, some complaints, and an emotional outburst, which soon dissipates into promises of staying in touch with each other.

well, not sure how many of them came good on their promises, but this ad campaign surely bridged many hearts❤️

5. Taylor’s University: Not For Rent

What good is a festival if it doesn’t teach us the significance of oneness and foster a feeling of togetherness? Thankfully, Deepavali does that in plenty.

This ad features an Indian immigrant in Malaysia facing difficulty in getting a house on rent as most landlords don’t prefer Indian tenants. While he has the option of moving to a locality that is more friendly to Indians, he doesn’t want his daughter to grow up in a world that divides people based on their ethnicities. Thankfully, a fateful meeting with a real estate agent helps him not only find a house for himself and his family but new friends too.

Wrapping Up

And that was a wrap of the best Malaysian Deepavali 2023 commercials. The adverts mentioned in this blog not only highlight what Deepavali means to Malaysians but also underscore the main themes of this beautiful festival i.e., compassion, empathy, and togetherness.

We’ll be back with more amazing commercials for you. Till then, stay tuned!
