Airtel, a New Delhi-based Indian multinational telecommunications services corporation, has made a 20-screen multiplex with access to content libraries from prominent OTT partners access to the general public on mobile devices. Partynite Metaverse will be the metaverse platform through which users may access the multiplex service.
3. Ericsson Sets up Distribution Centre at KLIA to Provide Faster Support for 5G in the Asia Pacific
Swedish telecommunications giant Ericsson has commissioned a new facility at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) which will expand its regional distribution capacity to support 5G networks. It puts Malaysia in a strategic location to support smooth operations of customer networks in the Asia Pacific region.
4. Thailand Announces The Launch of the Thailand 5G Alliance
Thailand's Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA) has announced the establishment of the Thailand 5G Alliance with the support of Thai Prime Minister H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, announced at the Thailand 5G Summit 2022. The summit was co-hosted by Thailand's Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, DEPA, GSMA APAC 5G Industry Community, and Huawei.
5. China Bans Over 30 Live-Streaming Behaviours, Demands Qualifications
China has issued a new regulation on the live-streaming industry that lists 31 banned behaviors. The move to ‘raise the bar for influencers’ when it comes to talking about certain topics, is the government's latest effort to regulate the booming digital economy.
6. Malaysia Experienced 57.8 Million Virus Cyber Attacks in Q1
Malaysia recorded a total of 57.8 million virus attacks during the first quarter of 2022 (Q1 2022) which accounted for 1.14% of the total cyber-attacks around the globe, according to Fortinet. Fortinet’s Fortiguard Labs security strategist Jonas Walker said the number of botnet detection in the country stood at 57.2 million, representing 1.19% of global threats.
7. Mobile Malware up in Vietnam: Kaspersky's Report
There has been an increase in the number of mobile malware targeting Vietnamese users, according to the global cybersecurity company Kaspersky. Kaspersky reported that it detected and prevented a total of 43,171 mobile attacks targeting Vietnamese users last year, 46.9% higher than in 2020.
8. APAC Ad Revenue Growth Predicted to Slow to 5.7%
Ad revenue for the Asia Pacific is predicted to grow at 5.7% versus the prior estimate of 9.3%, according to GroupM's "This year next year" 2022 mid-year global forecast. Although China represents 56% of the region, GroupM said that relative weakness in the country is a drag on the region's total.
9. Chinese Influencers Now Required to Have a Qualification to Talk About Topics Like Law and Medicine
Online influencers in China must now have a qualification to talk about certain topics such as law and medicine. The latest rules continue Beijing’s efforts to clean up its extremely popular live-streaming sector that involves some of China’s biggest companies from Tencent and Alibaba to TikTok-owner ByteDance.
