5 Christmas 2023 Commercials That Epitomized the Spirit of the Season

By the time you read this, Christmas will either already be here or a few hours away. In any case, we shall have delivered on our promise to you last week in our blog on the best Holiday commercials from 2023 i.e., to bring you the best Christmas commercials from this year. And, believe it or not, brands left no stone unturned this year to have a heart-to-heart with their audience through their Christmas ad campaigns.

So, without wasting another second, let’s dive straight into the 5 most touching Christmas commercials from this year.

1. Hobby Lobby: Christmas Is What You Make It

If you’ve been following our blogs for a while, you’d know that I am not someone who’d shed a tear over an advert. But somehow this 70-second spot leaves a lump in my throat every time I’m done watching it.

The advert shows a single mother quickly tidying up before rushing to work, but not before planting a gentle kiss on her son’s forehead who’s still napping on the couch. When the son wakes up, he looks around to find dirty laundry and dishes that her mother couldn’t do as she was probably getting late to work. The young lad decides to do something about it as he thinks their home isn’t merry enough.

Watch the ad to know what the young boy does to gift his mother a Christmas memory that she will cherish for a long while.

2. Publix: Being Together

There’s nothing like being together with our loved ones on Christmas and supermarket chain Publix showcased that wonderfully well in this cute 60-second spot.

The ad features a family preparing the Christmas meal, a toddler seated in a highchair, and their family dog that is trying hard to get inside the house. While everyone else is engrossed in giving the meal the finishing touches, only the toddler notices that a family member is missing from the celebration, and does everything to draw others’ attention to the dog trapped outside, without much success.

Finally, it takes a sippy cup to land beside the glass-paned door to draw the mother’s attention to the dog, who promptly lets the dog join the festivities. The final scene of the dog sitting beside the toddler while wagging its tail will make many go “awwww!”

3. Coca-Cola: The World Needs More Santas

This 110-second Christmas 2023 commercial by Coca-Cola is children’s delight as it features one of their favorite childhood characters, Santa Klaus, and that too in abundance!

On first look, the ad seems to be trying to present to the audience a utopian world where there are cute, portly, jolly, white-bearded Santas everywhere. However, we later realize that the Santas shown in the advert depict real-life people who help and support others, thereby, truly living up to the Christmas spirit of goodwill and generosity.

From helping someone catch the metro to offering little kids a hand at preparing the snowman, these small acts of kindness can truly help you make someone’s Santa!

4. Lidl: A Magical Christmas

Christmas is all about spreading joy- and this Lidl commercial made sure to drive home this idea even in animals.

This 100-second advert shows an adorable raccoon that goes above and beyond to make a little boy’s Christmas a bit extra special. The commercial begins with the raccoon watching a family excitedly decorating the Christmas tree when the family dog accidentally smashes the little boy’s favorite monkey Christmas decoration. To cheer up her son, the boy’s mother purchases a cuddly toy at the Lidl shop but drops it accidentally on her way back home.

Thankfully, the raccoon spots the toy and places it near the Christmas tree leaving the little boy smiling. If this doesn’t melt your heart, then I don’t know what will!

5. Michael Hill: A Christmas to Remember

A fundamental principle of Christmas is to make everyone feel included; make everyone feel like family. Nothing probably emphasizes this concept better than this 150-second tearjerker of a spot by the Australian jeweler Michael Hill.

The advert showcases a family that is slowly navigating its way through life as the father embarks on a new relationship. I wouldn’t blame you if by the time the commercial ends, you start disliking the young girl who is at the center of this advert. However, what she does toward the end of the ad will probably leave you teary-eyed. Someone, please get me some more tissues!

And that was a wrap of some of the warmest Christmas commercials from this year. But looking at the high number of lovely Christmas advertisements that have been released this year, we might have to catch up soon again.
